Sara Vitale is an American born actress best known for her dual appearances on the popular reality television show, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," in which she was featured when her family was given a house in 2007 and again in 2009 when she returned to guest host the Marshall family's episode. Sara was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Kane Pillsbury and Kimberly Gove (Pillsbury at the time). Sara grew up in Rockport, Massachusetts and majored in acting and directing at the University of Northern Colorado before switching her major to psychology in which she holds a Bachelors degree. Through the years Sara has trained with Tom McNally (student of Uta Hagen), Robert Fritz (internationally award winning film maker and writer), John Scott Gilbert (Award winning Broadway actor and producer), Heather Lockford (renowned vocal coach and IPA teacher) and has completed acting internships at the Denver Conservatory, Actors Theater Playhouse and the Rock River Players Theater Company. Sara discovered her love for performing as a toddler when her mother enrolled her in dance classes. Sara pursued training in jazz, tap and ballet until the age of 14 when an injury while learning Pointe forced her to take a break from dancing. It was then that Sara participated in her first serious play as a chorus member in a 1960s musical version of Shakespeare's "As you Like It." Soon after Sara auditioned for and landed the lead in an independent film. From that time on Sara has passionately pursued opportunities to work in the theater and film. For more than 10 years Sara ran a non-profit organization she founded called, "Angel Boy Art," that provided free art supplies and in home art therapy to children with special needs. The organization also ran group programs for the public aimed at integrating children with and without special needs. The art therapy techniques Sara developed were recognized and endorsed by Easter Seals and CVS Caremark provided over $40,000 in start up funding. Sara has also spent significant time volunteering at Planned Parenthood, VocRehab, various food shelves and Meals on Wheels. Sara also serves on the Board of Directors, the Educational Programming Committee, the Admissions Committee and the PTA for the Compass School in Westminster, Vermont, where her children attend school. Sara was married to Louis Vitale (bass player of Buxton Cliff) on July 6th, 2002.
